This area of study is for anyone wishing to develop their creative skills in Art and Design to a higher level and will provide you with an exciting opportunity to develop your knowledge and individual interests within the creative arts field. This stimulating, hands-on course comprises practical workshops, lectures and group projects. The course will culminate in an exhibition which will give you the opportunity to showcase your work in a professional setting. You will later be given the opportunity to demonstrate your abilities in a range of techniques and skills in your chosen specialism.

Whether you want a career in the Art and Crafts industry or to nurture your creative potential, this course offers you the opportunity to work across and combine different art and craft practices. You will gain experience in a variety of two dimensional and three dimensional art and crafts disciplines which could include:
- Soft and resistant materials.
This is supported by contextual studies and enables you to produce a body of work that is truly personal.
Where will I study?
You will study at University Campus Barnsley, Church Street, Barnsley, S70 2AN. Our excellent facilities include dedicated workshops and studios which include industry standard software, printmaking (etching, relief printing and silkscreen), wood, heavy metal and plastics, jewellery, soft materials, ceramics and sculpture.
How will I be assessed?
Assessment is continuous and is based on assignments, projects, group projects, lectures, workshops and formative tasks.
What can I do next?
You can progress to a BA (Hons) Degree in Art and Design or employment in the art, craft and design sector where you may work towards full membership of relevant professional associations, such as British Design Innovation (BDI), the Chartered Society of Designers, the Design Business Association, or Design and Art Direction (D&AD).
