Overview

Do you want to be your own boss, plan to work in a family business or hope to create a social enterprise?  If you are looking for a business based degree that stands out to employers, then BA (Hons) Enterprise and Entrepreneurship could be the course for you.

How long is the course?

This course runs for three years, commencing in September.

What qualification will I achieve?

BA (Hons) Enterprise and Entrepreneurship validated through University of Hull.

What will I study?

This course is for budding entrepreneurs of all ages and backgrounds, who want to start, develop or grow a business and strengthen skills whilst completing the course.
The course embraces the concept of experiential learning whilst acquiring knowledge through real life practical experiences and expertise to support your business start-up and business growth aspirations.  Choosing this course will give access to:

  • Practical experience of setting up and running a business.
  • Focus on real business experience including master classes, enterprise events and visits.
  • Teaching staff who combine academic and business management expertise.

  • To develop and nurture understanding of business start-up.
  • Give support to enable students to graduate with an actual developed business/idea.
  • To impart knowledge and shared experiences from entrepreneurs.
  • Support a growing generation of innovative entrepreneurs.

Real life experiences

The Enterprise and Entrepreneurship degree will enable you to network with entrepreneurs, mentors and individuals from industry, both locally and nationally.The course will incorporate work based learning through a placement opportunity to develop skills for business development and enable networking opportunities.

You will study at University Campus Barnsley, Church Street, Barnsley, South Yorkshire, S70 2AN.

What equipment will I need?

All equipment will be provided.

How will I be assessed?

Assessment methods include a range of methods including reports, projects, case studies, reflections and presentations.

What can I do next?

Further postgraduate study or progression to a partnership University Business Incubator.  There are also opportunities for business support and mentorship through iTrust Barnsley network.

How much does the course cost?

Course fees: £5,995 per year.

Student Finance

As a higher education student living in England you may be eligible for the non-means tested Tuition Fee Loan from the Government. For further details go to: www.direct.gov.uk/studentfinance

A Maintenance Loan of up to £6,904 per year will be available to eligible students living with parents or up to £8,200 per year to those living away from home. EU Students cannot apply.

Students with children or dependant adults may qualify for a Childcare Grant or Adult Dependants’ Grant. Students can apply for these at the same time as applying for a Maintenance Loan.

Remember: eligible students will not have to pay tuition fees in advance and can apply for the Maintenance Loan before they start the course.
