If any of the above applies to you, then the BA (Hons) Enterprise and Entrepreneurship could be the one for you.

This course runs for three years, commencing in September.

What will I study?

If any of the above applies to you, then the BA (Hons) Enterprise and Entrepreneurship could be the one for you.

This is a course for budding entrepreneurs of all ages and backgrounds, who want to start, develop or grow a business and strengthen their skills alongside their degree.

This course embraces the concept of ‘learning by doing’ whilst acquiring real knowledge and practical expertise to support your business start-up and business growth aspirations. If you choose this course you will benefit from:

  • Practical experience of setting up and running your own company

  • A focus on real business experiences including master classes, enterprise events and visits to businesses
  • Teaching staff who combine academic and business management expertise to bring you a relevant teaching experience

Key aims of the course:

  • To develop and nurture your understanding of business start-up
  • To support you to leave with an actual developed business
  • To impart experience and knowledge, and shared experiences from entrepreneurs and to ‘learn by doing’ including failures as well as successes
  • To introduce you to thematic areas of innovative concepts within an interdisciplinary context
  • To support a growing generation of innovative ideas, and entrepreneurs
  • To enrich you with a range of employability skills which can be transferable to any industry, employment, workplace or self-employment

  • Being an ‘intrepreneur’
  • Marketing Essentials
  • Work based Learning – The Enterprise Consultant

Year 3

Core modules:

  • Enterprise Strategy and Marketing
  • Sustainable Enterprise and Ethics
  • Leadership

Real-world experience

The Enterprise and Entrepreneurship degree will allow you to mix with entrepreneurs, mentors and individuals from industry, both locally and nationally, to share experiences and opportunities.

The course will incorporate work based learning and a placement giving you the opportunity to develop additional skills and network. This will mean that you can graduate knowing you have a wide range of employability skills suitable for a range of industries.

You will study at University Campus Barnsley, Church Street, Barnsley, South Yorkshire, S70 2AN.

All equipment will be provided.

How will I be assessed?

You will be assesed through coursework.

How much does the course cost?

Course fees: £5,995 per year.

Student Finance

As a higher education student living in England you may be eligible for the non-means tested Tuition Fee Loan from the Government. For further details go to: www.direct.gov.uk/studentfinance

A Maintenance Loan of up to £6,904 per year will be available to eligible students living with parents or up to £8,200 per year to those living away from home. EU Students cannot apply.

Students with children or dependant adults may qualify for a Childcare Grant or Adult Dependants’ Grant. Students can apply for these at the same time as applying for a Maintenance Loan.

Remember: eligible students will not have to pay tuition fees in advance and can apply for the Maintenance Loan before they start the course.
