The BTEC Level 4 HNC in Public Services is a qualification with a minimum of 120 credits. The course covers a wide variety of subjects relating to management and operation of the public services operating in the United Kingdom. This one year course will give students, and serving personnel, the education and training needed for a range of careers in public services. It also provides opportunities for public service employees to achieve a nationally recognised level 4 qualification. On completion of the course, you may wish to apply for your preferred public service career, or, continue on to a second year, completing a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Public Services. If you are already in employment, promotional opportunities may be available within your organisation.

What equipment will I need?
You will need writing materials and folders, suitable practical kit (including indoor and outdoor footwear), a storage device and access to a computer.
How will I be assessed?
There are no formal examinations. Most units will be assessed via coursework and may include essays, reports, presentations, professional discussions, group activities as well as practical assessment and evaluation and reflection.
What can I do next?
You may progress to universities to undertake Public Service-related degrees or to related employment. The skills developed through the course are transferable into a range of employment sectors. Students who successfully complete the HNC may progress onto the Higher National Diploma (HND) in Public Services.
