Our Sport students had a unique opportunity to develop their knowledge of sport coaching and business start-ups when former student Ash Greenwood visited UCB.

Ash, who studied a Sport Coaching and Development HND, returned to UCB to speak to students about his coaching business, AG Sports. The students also took the opportunity to ask Ash some coaching-related questions, whilst he shared his experiences and inspired the next generation.

The 28-year-old was in the second year of his HND when he decided he wanted to start his own sport coaching business after liaising with the UCB careers advice team about future employment prospects.

Ash said: “I loved getting to speak to students and I made a point of telling them to persevere with their dreams. It was great to be back at UCB and see how much the campus has changed since I was a student!”

Dan Connolly, Sport HE Pathway Leader at UCB, added: “I’m really pleased and grateful to Ash for coming in. He spoke eloquently and enthusiastically about his experiences both as a student and now running his own coaching business. I hope his visit will inspire our current students to consider pursuing a career in this growing and rewarding industry.”
