This one year top-up course is concerned with becoming a fully-fledged actor and creative artist preparing you for the launch of your career. You will work with professional directors taking you through an audition process.
As well as working with professional directors on shows based in our Electric Theatre, you will also take shows out on tour and will perform in a showcase in Manchester for agents and casting directors towards the end of the year. We also work with many professional touring theatre companies who provide regular workshops and seminars.
The structure of this vocationally unique course is like no other in the UK. Student actors will work from the outset within a professional touring theatre company. You will gain knowledge and experience of performance skills and experience the development of a fully functioning professional theatre company. This will provide graduating actors with the skills, experience and knowledge to be a truly entrepreneurial artist. We produce actors who are fully prepared for the existing and future demands of their profession and have the inner resources to ultimately contribute to the development of their careers.
Essentially working within a theatre company, the course is a modern reparatory apprenticeship. Tutors will strive to be at the cutting edge of current theatrical trends and technical developments and will work closely and in collaboration with related creative artists. Theatre is currently embracing multimedia performance; therefore it is crucial that the course stays at the forefront. The course allows you to build in traditional skills that agents or casting directors are looking for. You will also work with other professional theatre companies and will have the opportunity to take your work on tour.
